5. Reuse and Recycle Packaging. We actively participate in the circular economy. We promote the reuse and recycling of packaging materials, minimizing waste and maximizing efficiency throughout our operations.

Environmental initiatives at Radial Europe

In our distribution centers in Europe, we are driving sustainability forward with a wide range of innovative practices:

  • Energy Efficiency: We implement LED and motion-detection lighting systems to reduce energy consumption.
  • Green Energy: We installed solar panels in our warehouse in Groningen.
  • Smart heating: our warehouse in Poland features a smart heating system that ensures optimal energy use. If the temperature drops below the set level, the heating automatically activates, maintaining a comfortable working environment while minimizing energy waste.
  • Packaging: In Halle, Germany, we utilize 100% recyclable grass cartons and bubble wrap, minimizing environmental impact while meeting packaging needs efficiently.
  • Waste segregation: We prioritize waste segregation practices in each of our sites to enhance recycling efforts. In Poland, we go further and maintain comprehensive records for electronic waste, ensuring responsible disposal and minimal environmental impact.
  • ISO 14001 Certification: our sites in Kassel and Staufenberg hold certifications that affirm our adherence to internationally recognized standards for environmental management systems (EMS).

Commitment to Net Zero 2040

At bpostgroup, our commitment to achieving net zero by 2040 is unwavering. We have set ambitious targets to reduce scope 1 and 2 emissions by 55% by 2030. This includes transitioning to 100% zero-emission last-mile deliveries, sourcing green electricity exclusively, and ensuring that all new company cars are zero-emission.

Commitment to sustainable transportation

Radial partners with carriers who minimize and transparently report carbon emissions. We are actively implementing green solutions, such as utilizing bicycle couriers and collaborating with carriers that establish electric-only vehicle networks and use Sustainable Aviation Fuel containing 30% recycled content. Some of our partners further their sustainability practices by harnessing solar energy through solar panels. Additionally, an increasing percentage of our deliveries are directed to parcel lockers and pick-up points, significantly reducing our carbon footprint by consolidating deliveries to single addresses.
