Jose Dominguez
Outbound Lead
Louisville, KY
My favorite part of the job is that I get to work with my associates and share my knowledge with them so they can grow. I like that I get to put Radial’s values into practice every day.
Where are you based?
I am based in Louisville, Kentucky, and work for Radial’s Tradeport One facility.
How long have you been with the company?
I’ve been with Radial for 12 years and seven months.
How has your career grown since starting at Radial?
My career has grown tremendously at Radial. I started as a seasonal employee in November 2009; then, I transitioned into a full-time picking and packing role in March 2010. Twenty months later, I became an outbound lead for a beauty brand.
Are there any notable mentors or peers you feel have contributed to your growth and success?
Absolutely! Beth Satterly is my supervisor and has been instrumental in my career trajectory. I joined Radial shortly after I had served in the military for 19 years. I was eager to explore new career opportunities aligned with the values I acquired in the military. From the get-go, I noticed how confident Beth was and how she set clear expectations while effectively managing and commuting with employees. She is always available to troubleshoot issues and provide real-time feedback to associates. I try to emulate Beth’s openness in my management style, and I am beginning to observe its success. My management journey is just beginning, and I will continue to lean on Beth’s guidance along the way.
What does your day-to-day look like? What are the main responsibilities of your role?
My day typically consists of assisting my supervisor and other departments like outbound, inbound, returns, and order resolutions, so all orders are out the door. As of right now, in our Tradeport 1 facility, I help manage roughly 40-70 full-time employees. However, our workforce skyrockets during peak season to approximately 120-150 associates. Sometimes we tap other employees from different brands to lend support. During peak season, there are more opportunities for collaboration, and I enjoy it since I meet new people.
In the warehouse, we use monitoring and visual management tools, which helps our team identify workers who need assistance packing orders. I am always available to help others, so visibility into employee efficiency helps me step in when required.
Additionally, safety is always foremost at Radial, and packers review safety checklists at the start of every shift to ensure their area is safe and ready for work the day. Throughout the day, I walk around aisle by aisle, ensuring there are no plastics on the floor or cardboard restricting access in our walkways.
What motivates you to wake up and go to work?
My biggest motivation is my children and wife and being able to provide for them. Secondarily, the privilege to work with my Radial colleagues to bring success to our clients is very encouraging.
What is your favorite part of your job/ what do you like most about working at Radial?
I get to work with my associates and share my knowledge with them so they can grow – that’s my favorite part. Additionally, I like that I get to put Radial’s values into practice every day.
Where do you see yourself within Radial in the next few years/ what are your goals?
I see myself taking a supervisor role and mentoring others. I’ve held many positions at Radial, and my previous expertise and experience can help other employees grow within the company.
What is your favorite non-work-specific thing about your job? (i.e., breakroom games, onsite activities, awards, colleagues, etc.)
Radial’s quarterly employee awards are always outstanding and motivating; I was a recipient two years ago.
Additionally, I look forward to our annual summer gathering. We hold it offsite, and we get to spend time with colleagues and catch up with each other’s families—activities like this help build camaraderie and let us unwind.
What is one word you would use to describe working at Radial?
Opportunities. I’ve been lucky to move across many roles at Radial. Every opportunity I have received has challenged me and motivated me to keep moving forward.
What is the best career lesson you have learned so far?
The biggest career lesson would have to be that I am part of a team and that every team member adds value and has the potential to bring success. I like getting everyone involved and hearing their ideas; not only am I giving them the spotlight to express their thoughts, but it also teaches me to think differently.
What is a fun fact that most people don’t know about you?
I like to sing. When I was growing up, I would participate in musicals and church choirs. When I am in picking and packing, I am usually singing. There is no specific genre I favor; I just like a little bit of everything.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I enjoy playing golf with friends.
What is one thing you can’t live without?
My daughters. They bring a lot of joy to me, and I like spending time with them.
